Stress can be defined many different ways. The most common definition is, stress is the body’s response to an outside situation in one’s life. Stress effects one’s environment, life and others around them in many ways. Sometimes these situations get the better of us and we have trouble dealing with the feelings of stress. You may become irritable, hostile, angry or overly sensitive just to name a few. Sometimes our physical body deals with the stress in an unhealthy way as well. You may have high blood pressure, become depressed, develop ulcers, or have a heart attack. It is important to learn what your stress triggers are and how to deal with both the triggers and the effects. Only by learning this will you be able to successfully manage your stress.

Triggers can be a variety of things. It could be something immediate such as the threat of physical danger, preparing for a date or a speech. These situations are instant and usually over quickly allowing your body to return to normal. The trigger could be something more serious and long term such as a divorce, financial problems, moving or a sick family member. These long term situations tend to have a more dangerous effect on the body and person.

Hypnosis can assist you on your path to inner peace. It will help you to learn what your trigger is and it can change your body’s response to that trigger. Some people know their triggers but others might require help finding them, hypnosis can do this. Hypnosis is a highly effective treatment for stress management. If you are trying to reach your goal of stress management, you need to know the triggers and the reaction you have in order to be successful.

Most people want to lead a happy and peaceful life. Stress does not allow that. The body’s reaction to stress is different for everyone. Stress can be the cause of low work performance, sleep deprivation, or other addictions such as alcoholism, drugs and smoking. Your body might respond through skin breakouts, grinding your teeth, a panic attack or a low immune system. Just having some of these problems can lead to even more stress.

Hypnosis can help you avoid chronic problems caused by stress. It will allow you to control your breathing and become deeply relaxed. You will learn to manage your stress in a healthy manor. It will help you face your stressors and triggers head on instead of bottling them up. Others may choose other ways of dealing with stress, such as medication, counseling or exercise but they are not dealing directly with the trigger and response. Hypnosis will address all of these things, it will even help you in other areas of your life that might cause you more stress such as weight loss, self confidence and fears.

With all the research and studies being done on stress and stress management, there have been many new discoveries and theories on what works best for stress reduction. The decision is yours. You need to decide what method will work best for you and your lifestyle. I would not delay. Stress is something we are all going to have in our lives at some point. The sooner you decide what is right for you, the sooner stress will be eliminated.

Learn What Happens Went You Quit Smoking

By James Richardson | April 24, 2008

by James Grey

All I needed was to have the right info in my hands when I quit smoking. Each and every time I mustered up enough mental energy, I would attempt it again. It was a learning adventure each time I failed in my attempts to quit but, I learned what not to do the next time. If you fail in quitting smoking, you can at least slow down on the cigarettes you are having. When you stop smoking it will be one of the best things you can do for yourself hands down. Call your health insurance company and ask for some help, they will help, LOL. Know what you are going to do when you get that craving for a smoke. It is not that hard to stop smoking once you put your mind to it.

I joined one of those stop smoking support groups the last attempt I made in quitting smoking. The rationality of doing this was it was just torture to time and time again quit smoking. That was going to be the last time I quit this habit. Support that is structured and personalized can be long lasting in helping you. The journey from this type of psychological ride can be so overwhelming. If you are in the know with advice from a support group, you can face what’s coming. There is nothing here that is ground breaking at all. The stress of starting and stopping smoking is too much. Your mind will even come up with reasons to have a cigarette. Having a few tricks up your shelve can help not to have that cig.

Arm yourself with the information of why you smoke and understand the effects it has on you. Change your behavior, plan it out ahead of time and like do not hang out with your smoking co-workers and friends. Treat the tobacco like a dependence problem because it is. Face these challenges if you truly want to quit smoking.

To quit cold turkey was an illusion out of my reach smoking two packs of cigarettes a day. It may be the most well known method to quit smoking and the oldest. If I would have quit cold turkey, I would have been climbing the walls without a plan to act on doing the cold turkey idea.

Trying to quit smoking with products that ease your cravings and withdraw symptoms helps some but not others. Some say that people who use a nicotine patch are less likely to fall back into smoking again. Even if you slip up and have a cigarette, do not give in and start smoking again, just move on with your efforts. Do not think about your past failures just keep trying and you will succeed.

Start by making a promise to yourself, that you are going to find a way to quit smoking, it starts with a plan. When you start you will be very uncomfortable at first. Family can help with your stress. Smokers fail in there first attempts all the time, just start again.

Most stop smoking aids contain nicotine as a ingredient, but more aids are coming on the market everyday that do not contain it. Some drugs that the doctor may use on you are bupropion, chantix and fluoxetine. Fluoxetine is for people who may be prone to depression. Chantix may be Pfizer miraculous drug for quitting smoking. Bupropion is another stop smoking drug that is free of nicotine. Always check with a doctor first before starting any drugs.

What happens when you quit smoking is withdraw symptoms from quitting smoking can vary from feeling fatigue or suffering from irritability and feeling like you are coming down with a cold or something. In the first 48 hours is when these will be the strongest. Temporary is what this is, do not forget. Knowledge is what you need to stay in control of your mind when this is happening to your body which will go away.

If you where not buying cigarettes for a year think about how much money that would be, is that enough of an incentive for you? Buy yourself something special after that. You will be one of the non smokers with negative attitude at the smokers outside. No more standing 15 feet away from the entrance to the building. Bring on the anti-smoking laws and more taxes on cigarettes; I don’t have to pay anymore.

It is frightening when you see just what is in them. This makes you highly dependent on cigarettes, not just physically but also psychologically. It is why you need help to quit smoking. It is great news that you should share. Doing so will allow others to encourage you. Also consider joining a program. There are many out there, some are free some cost thousands. Did you start to smoke as it was something your friends did? Do you enjoy the smoke break catching up on what your mates have done, or what the latest gossip is? This is something that makes it hard to give up smoking. Sure you can still gossip but it is not the same without puffing on the cigarette.

Socializing and smoking makes it a tough habit to quit as they go together so well. People often say quitting smoking is harder to do than what you go through to quit non-acceptable forms of addiction such as cocaine.

It is not uncommon that your smoking habit has formed strong associations with many everyday events and activities occurring in your busy life, for example, smoking during cigarette breaks at work. Next time your workmates ask you to take a smoke break go for a quick walk instead; this is one of the most essential quit smoking tips.

After you have made your important decision to quit smoking you should take up a new hobby if you don’t have enough to keep you mind from thinking about cigarettes. The best option would be some exercise related activity. Physical exercise can give you a different kind of high. If you can’t manage exercise another hobby is fine, just so long as you keep occupied.

At times you will be thinking I just have to have a cigarette. To achieve your goal of quitting smoking you need to have a plan to overcome these urges. Have something you have set aside for these moments. Maybe a book you can sit down and enjoy. Or a piece of fruit. Go outside for a walk. Do whatever it takes to get the though out of your mind.

The habit of smoking involves your hand going to your mouth. Instead of food going in you are introducing something your body has become addicted to. This must be replaced with something such as chewing gum and snacking on a carrot stick. Maybe the odd bit of chocolate to help you relax and get past your cigarette craving.

Quitting is mind over matter. You have to overcome urges to grab a cigarette and light it up. All of the tips are aimed at overcoming these thoughts. It is not an easy task you have before you but if you are determined you are half way there.

Six Tips for you to Try and Curb your Nicotine Craving

By Frederic Baker | April 18, 2008

  1. Do not fool yourself by saying you have too many pressures in your life right now to give up cigarettes. If you are smoking, this in itself is a pressure – a very great pressure. Every day is a gamble and your life is at stake. By getting nicotine out of your life, other things will become easier to handle. You will feel better about yourself and you will have more energy. You will have given yourself what no one else could give you. You will no longer have the pressure of being a smoker.
  2. Do not use the excuse that you might gain weight to justify your continuing to smoke. Even if you do gain a little, the fact that you will be more active and will get more exercise should counteract any weight gain. Remember, overeating, not stopping smoking, causes weight gain.
  3. Plan to do things that will keep your mind off smoking. Sometimes, our minds can be our worst enemies. They will tell us that we need a cigarette for just about any reason that is handy at the time. By doing things like going to a restaurant and sitting in the nonsmoking sections, you can get your mind off smoking.
  4. Fidget with something. You are accustomed to holding a cigarette. Being without one might leave your hands at a loss. Get a small rubber ball or yo-yo. Playdough and clay are also good.
  5. Quit smoking one day at a time and think only about the current part of the day. “I am not going to smoke before noon.” “I am not going to smoke before 3 o’clock.” Sometimes, just do it one hour at a time. This is a lot easier than trying to quit forever.
  6. Do not subject yourself to smoky situations. If you come into contact with someone who is smoking, just say to yourself, “he is having the cigarette I might be having.” Then, be grateful you do not have to have it.
